The world today is witnessing a new kind of revolution – the information revolution that is driven by the information technology (IT). Each and every activities of society are driven by the IT. Various academic levels have integrated this subject as the major and most focused subject. Purbanchal University is the first University that has launched various computer related courses in Nepal. We have written this book to meet the requirements of syllabus on "Business Application of Computer" for BBA 1st semester. We have divided the whole book into seven units as prescribed by the syllabus.
First unit describes the introduction to computer system. It includes the introduction to computer, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of computer, application areas, history and generation of computer.
Second unit describes the computer organization. It includes the anatomy structure of computer, components of computer system, I/O devices, and memory unit of the computer system.
Third unit describes the data representations. It includes the data types, integer and float data type, string and character type, number system, inter conversion of numbers from decimal to others and vice-versa, binary arithmetic etc.
Fourth unit describes the operating system (OS) and user interface. It includes definitions, types of OS, functions of OS, windows system and its accessories.
Fifth chapter describes the concept of word processor. It includes the basic concept, feature and major applications of Ms Word. We have explained about the file handling, tables, columns etc. for general documentations.
Sixth chapter describes the concept and operations with spreadsheet. We have explained about the Ms Excel as spreadsheet application. It includes the file handling, functions, formulas, graph, etc.
Seventh chapter describes the concept of presentation. We have explained about the Power Point application. It includes the basic slide operation, animation, transitions, etc.
